Gumusluk stands on the site of the ancient Carian city of Myndos whose seafront sections slid into the sea in some long-forgotten earthquake. Today these barely submerged remains are a magnet for snorkellers and underwater photographers. The land site is yet to be fully excavated, but traces of antiquity can be spotted in empty fields around the village.
The village itself is full of atmosphere with small family-run fish restaurants sitting on the waters edge. These have become famous in Turkey and people travel from as far a field as Istanbul to visit them. On summer nights there is a delightful bustling atmosphere.
Gumusluk is also home to a number of artists who are drawn here by the scenery and the relaxed way of life. There are always a number of art works on sale from silver jewellery to paintings and sculpture.
Houses rarely come up for sale in the harbour itself but there area number of complexes in the hills around where we have properties for sale.
